Secondhand Supercars Are Hotter Than Bitcoin At UK Auctions

Strong demand for the luxury and supercar sectors saw high value vehicles in 2017 often substantially outperforming guide price expectations.

BCA sold a range of vehicles from the luxury and supercar sectors for over £100,000 last year, including Audi R8 Spyder, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Bentley Mulsanne and Continental, Rolls-Royce Wraith, Phantom and Ghost, Lamborghini, Land Rover Autobiography and Ferrari.

BCA found that around 65% of these high value cars were purchased by Live Online bidders, with the balance being brought by in-lane buyers. Sold price outperformed price guide expectations by up to 18%.

Highest price achieved by BCA last year was for a 2009-registered Lamborghini Murcielago Superveloce that realised £245,000. Second highest was a 2016 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Saloon that sold for £210,000.

A 2016 Lamborghini Huracan Spyder made £176,000, a 2013-registered Ferrari 458 Spyder F1 Roadster sold for £159,500 and a 2014 64 Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) PDK at 8,000 miles sold for £126,500

The biggest selling model over £100,000 was the Audi R8 610 Quattro Plus S-T, with 20 examples sold, for a top value of £111,000.
